Volunteer Opportunties
Volunteers are individuals who commit their time to helping a cause, without the promise pay or personal gain. For nonprofit organizations, volunteers are an invaluable resource.
Please consider sharing your passion and skills to help us improve community programs by volunteering!
Fundraising – As a non-profit organization, CERA relies on donations to support our programs. We are looking for volunteers who have experience and/or connections to help raise funds to help us cover the costs for critical infrastructure such as setting up radio towers, acquiring radio equipment for the community, and supporting our education-outreach efforts.
Grant Writing – If you have grant writing experience, we would love to hear from you. Experience with radio communications and technical concepts is desired but not necessary.
Marketing - Nonprofits can only be as successful as their reach to the communities they serve and to the influential funders and donors who help make fulfilling nonprofit missions and goals possible. We are looking for persons with marketing experience to help shape CERA's outreach strategy and align the creative direction with the goals of the unique but unified brands for CERA, Neighborhood Radio Watch (NRW), and the El Dorado County Amateur Radio Club (EDCARC).
Graphics Artist – If you have experience and access to tools to design and create graphical elements that can be used for websites, educational and outreach materials, we would love any cycles you can spare to help CERA's materials compelling.
Audio/Video Producing and/or Editing – We are looking for experts or individuals who already know or are willing to learn audio and video producing and editing techniques to capture the stories and moments of our Neighborhood Radio Watch members or Amateur Radio Emergency Service members. Ideal volunteers already have the necessary audio and video production and editing tools.
Radio Programmers and Consultants - If you have technical experience with programming GMRS or HAM radios or expertise with recommending radio purchases and installation, we could use your help supporting our growing community of residents with their radio set ups.
Public Events Coordinator - We are looking for a volunteer who has great project management skills who can help CERA's Public Information Officer Information Officer with community outreach activities such as organizing talks, setting up and signing up staff for informational booths at local fairs and events, coordinating with community partners like Fire Safe Councils, etc.
Volunteer Examiners - If you are U.S. licensed Amateur Radio operator holding a General Class license or higher, we are looking for Volunteer Examiners who can help administer FCC licensing exams to individuals who are interesting in becoming a new Amateur Radio operator or to those who are interested in upgrading their license. See the ARRL requirements to become a Volunteer Examiner.
